Originally a script for “Bug Hunt at Outpost Nine” by Edward Neumeier, the project shifted focus when parallels to Robert Heinlein’s novel were recognized, leading to the novel’s optioning and licensing for the film adaptation.

Their free-ranging exploration of a genetic dystopia touches on everything from the visual aesthetics of the sets and locations to the significance of character names to behind-the-scenes romance.
